What can we do for you?
The great thing about railway modelling is that, as a hobby, it requires extremely diverse skills to create a massive range of possible models by modellers with hugely variable skills and abilities. You may enjoy just watching the trains go round or you may be fascinated by building complex locomotive mechanisms.
Where Forge Model Works can help you in the pursuit of this great hobby is by doing as much – or as little modelling work for you as you need, aiming to facilitate your own modelling work. We actually really like doing small stuff so don’t be afraid to ask about one-off items or some of those tiny but frustratingly difficult-to-model components. On the other hand we are happy to tackle bigger projects and models too so whatever you are looking for just get in touch and we can discuss what you are looking for.
We support your modelling with a range of services and you can read more on our Design, Manufacturing and Research pages and our Project Process page shows you how we work through your railway modelling project.
In case you need inspiration, here are just some of the sorts of projects that we work on:
-
model Buildings and architectural details
- Prototype-specific structures - we can recreate specific real-world buildings from photographs or drawings, whether a hut, a canopy or a house.
- Period-accurate architecture and architectural details - Victorian, Edwardian, and modern era buildings.
- Scale conversions – we can adapt existing designs or recreate an existing model to a new model scale (O gauge/7mm, S Scale, OO gauge/4mm, N gauge, etc.)
- Modular building systems - Expandable structures that grow with your layout.
-
model railway Rolling Stock and Locomotive Details
- Replacement parts - Hard-to-find components for older models
- Upgrade details - Enhanced fittings and mechanical details
- Company-specific details and nameplates
- Narrow gauge and industrial locomotive and rolling stock or detail parts
-
model railway Infrastructure and Lineside Equipment
- Signalling equipment - Signal boxes, semaphore signals, and telegraph poles
- Industrial machinery - Cranes, winding gear, and quarry equipment
- Trackside furniture - Platform details, waiting shelters, and station accessories
- Civil engineering - Bridges, retaining walls, and embankment details
Of course the list could go on and on, so do talk to us about your project:
